Bill Audit terms

Last updated [date]

By accessing, uploading documents to, or using the Legal Bill Buster audit tool, you (“User”) acknowledge, understand and agree to the following terms.

1. Nature of the automated analysis

  • Educational purpose only. The audit tool provides automated, algorithmic reviews, structural checks and preliminary calculations of legal invoices, based strictly on general educational guidelines and past industry experience.
  • Not professional financial or legal advice. The output does not constitute a formal forensic accounting audit, a financial opinion, or legal advice. It is designed to help you spot potential billing patterns or disclosure omissions so you can make informed decisions.

2. No consultant-client or attorney-client relationship

Submitting documents to or interacting with this automated tool does not create an advocate-client, consultant-client, accountant-client or attorney-client relationship between you and Tim Vrancic or the Legal Bill Buster brand. Tim Vrancic is a Legal Consumer Advocate and former senior collections manager, not a practicing attorney. The tool does not contact your lawyer or act on your behalf; you decide whether to send any letter it prepares.

3. Your responsibility for what you upload

  • Remove high-risk identifiers. Before uploading, black out Social Insurance or Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, bank or credit card account numbers, and login details. The audit doesn’t need them. Keep the dates, staff initials, descriptions, hours and amounts: the audit needs those. [Note: Tim’s draft also required removing “highly sensitive medical or family law details”. Family law bills are a main market, and their descriptions are what the audit checks, so this was narrowed. Lawyer to confirm.]
  • Prohibited content. You agree not to upload files containing third-party trade secrets, classified information, or content restricted by a confidentiality or sealing order. We may end any session that violates this standard. [Note: “purge files” was removed because we don’t keep files; see section 4.]

4. Data privacy, confidentiality and retention

  • Limited licence to process. You keep all rights in your documents. By uploading a file, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, temporary licence solely to read and analyze it to produce the audit you requested.
  • Third-party infrastructure. Reading the document is done by a secure third-party AI service. Your files are never used to train public or commercial AI models.
  • No storage. We don’t store uploaded invoices. Each file is read once and discarded immediately; your audit results exist only in your browser and are cleared when you close the page. See our privacy policy. [Note: Tim’s draft said files are purged within 24 hours. The app is stricter than that, so this states what actually happens.]

5. Price and guarantee

  • A full audit costs $99 per invoice and includes the findings, their evidence and a dispute email.
  • Before you pay, the tool shows the total of charges it found to dispute. That total counts only charges the tool classifies as confirmed errors or as normally not billable; entries that only need explaining are not included.
  • If that total is less than $100, the full audit is free.
  • The guarantee is about what the audit finds, not what you save. We can’t promise your lawyer or law firm will agree to any reduction.
  • [Refund policy, taxes on the price, and payment processor terms to be added once payments are set up.]

6. Assumption of risk and limitation of liability

  • “As is” basis. The automated audit report is provided strictly “as is” and “as available”. We make no guarantees about the absolute accuracy of calculations, missed overcharges, or omissions in the output. You are responsible for checking the lines the tool reads from your bill before the audit runs.
  • Limitation of liability. Tim Vrancic, Legal Bill Buster and its affiliates assume no responsibility or liability for calculation errors, inaccuracies, missed billing discrepancies, or the results of any negotiation or fee dispute you undertake based on this tool. Any reliance you place on the report is at your own financial and legal risk. [Lawyer: review against consumer protection law, including how it interacts with the paid guarantee.]

7. Governing law

[These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Lawyer to confirm, including for U.S. customers.]
